Agartala, August 24: Ex-Congress minister Billal Mia joined BJP, putting an end to speculations. Chief Minister Manik Saha along with state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee welcomed him to the party today from Boxanagar assembly meeting.

Incidentally, yesterday the leadership of Pradesh Congress and former minister Billal Mia resigned from the post. He has written to All India Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge asking for his resignation from the State Congress Election Committee, State Congress Walking Committee President and AIC membership. The news of his leaving the party has sent shockwaves through the political circles. Recently, top leadership of BJP met Billal Mia at his residence. There was a lot of buzz in the political circles.
