Agartala, May 1, 2024 — Pradyut Chowdhury, the former president of the Usha Bazar Bharat Ratna Sangh Club, has been apprehended by airport police in connection with the murder of Durga Prasanna Dev, the current general secretary of the same club. The shocking incident unfolded yesterday evening when Dev was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in the Shalbagan area under the Bamutia Assembly.

Dev, also known as Vicky, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was rushed to ILS Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by attending physicians. His demise has sent shockwaves through the community, and suspicions have arisen regarding the involvement of other club members.

Vicky’s grieving family has accused fellow club associates of direct complicity in the tragic event. His wife reported that he had left home with their child to visit a doctor. Around 7 PM, she received a call from her husband, informing her that a person named Biman Das had sent a car to pick him up. Subsequently, Vicky’s phone went offline, and shortly thereafter, news broke that he had been shot.

In a startling twist, Vicky’s wife alleges that Raju Barman is responsible for her husband’s death. She has filed a direct complaint against both Raju Barman and Biman Das. Based on this complaint, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Last night, airport police arrested Pradyut Chowdhury, a suspect in the murder case. Chowdhury, who previously served as the committee president of the Usha Bazar Bharat Ratna Sangh Club, is currently undergoing interrogation at the Agartala West Police Station.
