New Delhi, Sep 23: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with her cabinet colleagues, on Tuesday spearheaded a city-wide ‘Swachhta Abhiyaan’ as part of the ongoing 14-day ‘Seva Pakhwada’. The campaign, organised from September 17 to October 2 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, seeks to transform cleanliness into a mass movement with active public participation.

During the drive, ministers, Delhi BJP leaders, and party workers took part in removing garbage and waste from several areas, including the Ring Road and adjoining stretches. Speaking to reporters, CM Gupta urged citizens to cooperate by keeping their surroundings clean and avoiding defacing public spaces with posters or wall writings.

“Let us come together and resolve to make our capital clean, green, and prosperous,” she appealed.

Prominent leaders also took part in the campaign across various locations. Manjinder Singh Sirsa cleaned the Ring Road at Raja Garden Chowk, Parvesh Saheb Singh joined the drive in R.K. Puram, Ashish Sood participated at Rajdhani College, and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva led efforts at the ITO stretch of Ring Road.

Echoing the spirit of the campaign, Sirsa recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s message on cleanliness, saying Prime Minister Modi had turned it into a people’s movement. Ashish Sood described the initiative as “cleanliness as service, and service as nation-building,” while Parvesh Verma highlighted it as a mega-campaign to realise the dream of ‘Swachh Bharat’ through public participation.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva emphasised that the drive reflected a collective effort to fulfil the Prime Minister’s vision and urged every citizen to take a pledge for a clean and green Delhi.

The campaign, leaders said, is not only about removing waste but also about instilling responsibility among citizens to build a healthier, more self-reliant India.
