Agartala, May 18: Minister Ratanlal Nath’s recent comments during a Edinet rally organized in front of the state BJP office have sparked controversy. The minister stated that there is no need to cater to journalists’ benefits, leading to condemnation from media professionals.

This isn’t the first time Minister Nath has made such statements. Previously, he invited news media workers to a WhatsApp group, raising eyebrows within the journalistic community. Critics argue that the media plays a crucial role in holding the government accountable to the public, and dismissing their importance undermines democratic principles.

The question arises: Is this the political education espoused by the nationalist party BJP? Minister Nath’s track record includes irrelevant comments about opposition parties, earning him the moniker “cutla fish.” Before 2018, he frequented state media offices, seeking favorable coverage. However, upon assuming the Education Minister position, his decisions regarding the Vidyajyoti scheme have left students suffering.

Critics claim that Minister Nath’s policies have restricted access to education for boys and girls up to the age of 14. Allegations link his decisions to student suicides due to academic pressures. Despite these concerns, he continues to make controversial statements. His shift to the Minister of Electricity Corporation has also drawn scrutiny, with the power corporation’s services frequently making headlines.

As journalists highlight Minister Nath’s failures, they emphasize the need for accountability and transparency. The media will closely monitor developments, ensuring that public officials uphold their responsibilities.
