The hostel, which serves as accommodation for lawmakers, has developed cracks in the roof, leading to water leakage during rain. Additionally, the doors and windows are reportedly in poor condition. Legislator Pramod Riyan, who represents Santirbazar, has publicly questioned the quality of construction, describing the situation as “extremely unfortunate and concerning.”

Speaking to journalists, Riyan expressed his disappointment, stating, “If the hostel is in this condition within a year and a half, it will be impossible to stay here in the future. The construction work was of extremely low quality.”

He further pointed out that the state of the hostel raises broader concerns about construction standards in other government projects. His remarks have intensified demands from various groups for an investigation into the role of contractors and the engineering division responsible for the project.

As the matter gains attention, calls for urgent renovation and accountability have grown. However, state authorities have yet to issue an official response. The hostel, funded by taxpayer money, remains a focal point of public scrutiny.
