Agartala, June 3: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday asserted that Tripura possesses immense potential for industrialisation and is well-positioned to emerge as a major investment destination in the Northeast in the coming years. He said that accelerated industrial growth would not only strengthen the state’s economy but also generate substantial employment opportunities for the youth.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the Governing Body of the Investment Promotion Agency of Tripura (IPAT) at the Conference Hall of the Civil Secretariat. The meeting focused on strategies to attract investments, promote industrial development, and create a sustainable ecosystem for business growth in the state.

At the beginning of the meeting, Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte delivered a detailed presentation outlining Tripura’s industrial strengths, investment opportunities, and sectors that have been drawing interest from potential investors. He highlighted the state’s strategic location, improving infrastructure, and abundance of natural resources as key advantages for industrial expansion.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the benefits of industrialisation should reach every section of society, particularly people residing in remote and tribal-dominated areas. He said that industrial growth would play a crucial role in improving livelihoods, enhancing economic activities, and ensuring balanced regional development across the state.

During the discussions, several proposals related to new industrial projects and investment initiatives were reviewed. Participants also deliberated on ways to establish industries based on Tripura’s rich natural resources, including rubber, bamboo, and tea, which have significant commercial potential. The meeting underscored the importance of value addition and resource-based industries to maximise economic benefits for local communities.

Dr. Saha also stressed the need to maintain ecological balance while pursuing industrial development. He said that sustainable and environmentally responsible industrialisation should remain a priority to ensure long-term growth without compromising the state’s natural heritage.

The meeting was attended by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Chief Minister’s OSD Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, and senior officials from various departments.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to economic development, the Chief Minister said Tripura is steadily creating a conducive environment for investment and industrial expansion that will benefit all sections of society while driving the state toward greater prosperity.
