Agartala, March 21: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to maintaining the “ethics of the coalition” with its ally, the Tipra Motha party, ahead of the upcoming TTAADC elections. He stated that any decision regarding seat-sharing arrangements would be taken by the party’s central leadership in consultation with alliance partners.

Speaking to media persons during a special organisational training session held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala, Dr. Saha said, “We are fully committed to respecting and upholding coalition dharma. I have said this earlier as well, and our stand remains unchanged.”

Responding to queries about the number of seats each party might contest in the TTAADC polls, the Chief Minister clarified that discussions are still underway. “Nothing has been finalised yet. Our guardians in Delhi will examine all aspects and decide the most appropriate strategy for contesting the polls,” he added.

The training session witnessed the presence of key party leaders, including BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh and National Secretary Vinod Sonkar. Several ministers, MLAs, and members of the BJP state committee also attended the programme. Dr. Saha, along with BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, participated actively in the deliberations.

A significant focus of the session was the upcoming Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls, which is expected to commence in Tripura soon. The Chief Minister emphasised that the exercise aims to ensure accuracy and transparency in voter lists.

Reassuring citizens, Dr. Saha said that genuine voters need not be concerned. “Those who already have their names or whose parents’ names are listed in the electoral rolls only need to fill out a simple form. This process is meant for cleansing and strengthening the voter database,” he explained.

Highlighting Tripura’s geographical sensitivity, surrounded by Bangladesh on three sides, he underscored the importance of maintaining a robust and accurate electoral system.

Dr. Saha added that the training session was organised to equip party workers with the necessary knowledge about SIR so they can assist voters effectively. “Our workers must ensure that no genuine voter faces any difficulty during this process,” he said.
