Agartala, Sep 9: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Monday flagged off trucks carrying relief materials to support the people of Himachal Pradesh, which has been devastated by recent floods and landslides. The relief consignment was arranged by the Pradesh BJP as part of its humanitarian initiative.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Dr. Saha said Himachal Pradesh has suffered immense loss of lives and property due to the natural calamity. “Massive floods and landslides have damaged roads and bridges, cutting off vital connections. Many people have lost their lives and countless others are suffering,” he said.
The Chief Minister recalled that Tripura too had witnessed similar challenges last year, when heavy floods and landslides disrupted normal life in the state. “We understand the pain and suffering of people affected by such disasters. At that time, many states stood by Tripura and extended their helping hands. Today, we are extending our support to Himachal Pradesh in their hour of need,” he said.
Dr. Saha stressed that solidarity during times of crisis is the true strength of India’s federal spirit. “Disasters remind us that we are one family. It is our duty to help our brothers and sisters in Himachal Pradesh overcome this tragedy,” he added.
Senior leaders of the state BJP were also present during the event and expressed their commitment to continue supporting relief and rehabilitation efforts across the country whenever required.
The trucks carrying relief materials will reach the flood-affected regions of Himachal Pradesh in the coming days, where they will be distributed to the affected families.
With this gesture, Tripura has joined the list of states extending assistance to Himachal Pradesh, reflecting a spirit of compassion, cooperation, and national unity.
