Agartala: Nov 03: On the auspicious occasion of Bhai Phonta, a cherished festival celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters, the Honorable Chief Minister, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, graciously accepted the traditional “Phonta” from sisters representing various regions of the state. This heartfelt ceremony, rich in cultural significance, symbolizes love, protection, and familial bonds.

As sisters adorned their brothers’ foreheads with the sacred ‘phonta’—a ceremonial mark made with a paste of rice and turmeric—Dr. Saha acknowledged the profound importance of this festival in fostering unity and strengthening ties within families and communities. He emphasized that Bhai Phonta not only honors the relationship between siblings but also reinforces the values of care, respect, and mutual support that are vital for societal harmony.

 

The event was marked by a vibrant display of cultural performances, showcasing the diverse traditions of the state.
