According to officials, the approved plan aims to expand the scope of financial inclusion initiatives by strengthening insurance coverage, improving financial literacy, promoting cashless transactions, and increasing access to institutional credit for SHG members.

A key highlight of the budget is the extension of insurance coverage to approximately 4.4 lakh SHG “didis,” ensuring greater financial security and protection under relevant government-backed schemes. This move is expected to provide a safety net to rural women and their families against unforeseen risks.

In addition, around 2 lakh SHG members will be provided with structured training programmes focused on financial literacy and awareness. These initiatives are designed to equip rural women with essential knowledge about banking services, savings, credit management, and digital financial tools, enabling them to make informed financial decisions.

The budget further earmarks Rs 40 crore for livelihood support, targeting nearly 4,000 women SHG members. This component will focus on strengthening income-generating activities, encouraging entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable livelihood opportunities at the grassroots level.

Another major component of the plan is the ambitious credit linkage target of Rs 1,000 crore for 30,000 rural SHGs. This is aimed at enhancing access to formal banking channels, enabling SHG members to avail loans for expanding their economic activities and improving their overall financial stability.

Officials stated that the approved budget reflects the continued commitment of the central government towards empowering rural women through inclusive financial systems. By promoting access to insurance, credit, and financial knowledge, the initiative is expected to significantly strengthen the socio-economic fabric of rural communities in Tripura.

The comprehensive approach adopted under TRLM is likely to play a pivotal role in fostering self-reliance, boosting rural entrepreneurship, and ensuring long-term economic sustainability for thousands of women across the state.
