Agartala: Feb 22: On Friday, a BJP party office in Sutaramura, located within the Chailam Assembly constituency, was set on fire by miscreants in the early hours around 2 AM. The incident was reported when a large fire broke out, and the local fire department from Bishramganj sent an engine to the scene. However, before the fire could be controlled, the party office was completely destroyed.

Following the incident, some locals speculated that the fire was linked to growing tensions surrounding “nigo” (illegal) trade, particularly in the Chailam constituency, which they believe may have led to the attack on the BJP office in Sutaramura. There are accusations that the ongoing conflicts between the ruling party and its allies have fueled unrest, with “nigo” trade being at the center of the discord.

The police from Bishramganj police station rushed to the site of the fire after receiving information and have begun an investigation into the cause of the incident. However, the situation remains tense, and some observers suggest that while party-related issues can be temporarily repaired, the larger conflict between the ruling party and its allies over illegal trade could lead to even more serious incidents.

It is feared that this growing friction in the Chailam Assembly constituency could lead to more dangerous developments in the future if not addressed promptly. The ongoing tensions and unrest point to deeper political and economic issues within the region, leaving the local population on edge.
