Agartala: Jan 17: On the occasion of the 75th Constitution Day celebration, BJP Tripura President and Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee expressed strong criticism of the CPI(M) and Congress during a rally in Agartala. He accused the CPI(M) of hypocrisy, alleging that the party, which aspires to establish a one-party dictatorship across the country, is now parading with photographs of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar while aligning with Congress. Bhattacharya pointed out that the CPI(M), once in power, had repeatedly opposed and undermined the Constitution and its framers.
Speaking at a rally organized by the BJP’s city unit in Agartala, Bhattacharjee also criticized Congress for its historical disrespect towards Ambedkar and the Constitution. He claimed that during the tenure of Jawaharlal Nehru, Congress had altered the original Constitution, removing significant elements that reflected India’s culture and traditions. Bhattacharya accused both CPI(M) and Congress of attempting to mislead the public by now promoting the Constitution, despite their past actions that dishonored its legacy.
The rally, which began at the BJP’s state office, passed through various streets before culminating in a gathering at Paradise Chowmuhani. The event saw participation from several BJP leaders, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder and BJP leader Papia Dutta. Bhattacharya’s remarks were aimed at highlighting the contrast between BJP’s commitment to the Constitution and the alleged opportunism of its political rivals.
