Agartala, May 14: Former Tripura Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday inaugurated the “Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Auditorium” at Shrimati Brahmadevi Saraswati Balika Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School in Hapur. The school, guided by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology, currently provides education to around 100 girl students from various northeastern states, including 25 tribal students from Tripura and nearby regions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deb highlighted the strides made in women’s empowerment under the BJP-led Tripura government since 2018. Taking a swipe at the opposition, he said, “The CPIM claims to stand for women’s rights, but their actions in power tell a different story. In contrast, our government has implemented meaningful reforms that directly benefit women.”
He pointed to Tripura’s implementation of 33% reservation for women in government jobs and welfare schemes as a major achievement. “Our approach is inclusive, empowering women from all communities,” Deb added, stressing that the government is committed to supporting women across socioeconomic and ethnic lines.
On the topic of national security, Deb lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, describing it as “firm and in line with India’s commitment to internal security.”
The event concluded with Deb interacting with students from Tripura studying at the school. He encouraged them to pursue their studies diligently and become role models for their communities, especially for the tribal youth back home.
The inauguration of the auditorium is seen as part of broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure and foster a culture of empowerment and national unity among young girls from the northeastern states.
