Agartala: Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Monday chaired a District-Level Review Meeting in Sepahijala to assess the progress of government schemes, development projects and delivery of essential public services across the district.

The meeting focused on key sectors including education, healthcare, drinking water supply, road connectivity and other basic services. Officials briefed the minister on the progress of ongoing projects as well as measures being taken to ensure that government schemes reach their intended beneficiaries.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Debbarma said particular emphasis was placed on effective implementation and timely completion of development works. The review also examined ways to strengthen public service delivery and address gaps that could affect the benefits reaching people at the grassroots level.

“Our continued focus is on ensuring that government initiatives translate into tangible development and meaningful benefits for the people,” Debbarma said.

He stressed the need for coordination among different government departments and underscored the importance of accountability in implementing schemes and projects. Officials were asked to maintain close monitoring of ongoing works and take necessary steps to address bottlenecks that could delay their completion.

As Guardian Minister, Debbarma is responsible for overseeing development activities in Sepahijala and facilitating coordination among departments to improve implementation of government programmes. Periodic district-level review meetings are intended to assess progress, identify shortcomings and accelerate projects wherever required.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the district administration to highlight issues affecting the implementation of various schemes and discuss possible solutions with the minister and officials concerned.

The government has been laying emphasis on regular monitoring of development programmes to ensure that administrative delays and coordination issues do not hamper public service delivery, particularly in essential sectors.

District Magistrate Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, IAS, MLA Antara Deb Sarkar and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.

Debbarma said the administration would continue to closely monitor development works in the district, with priority given to improving essential services and ensuring that welfare programmes produce visible benefits for residents.
