Agartala: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) emphatic performance in the West Bengal Assembly elections has been termed a “historic mandate for change” by Tripura BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee. He said the results reflect growing public support for the BJP and a decisive shift away from the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Speaking on Monday, Bhattacharjee asserted that the electorate has clearly voted for political transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” has struck a chord with voters, adding that the BJP is confident of forming the government in West Bengal.

“The people of Bengal have expressed their desire for change. This verdict reflects their faith in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and development agenda,” he said.

Bhattacharjee also linked the high voter turnout in the state to increasing public enthusiasm for the BJP, noting that the smooth conduct of elections marked a significant milestone. He praised the Election Commission of India for ensuring a free and fair electoral process, calling it a “historic achievement” in the state’s political landscape.

Highlighting the party’s broader performance, he congratulated voters in Assam, Puducherry, and West Bengal for supporting the BJP. He pointed to the party’s strong showing in Assam and its victory in the Dharmanagar by-election in Tripura as indicators of sustained public confidence.

According to Bhattacharjee, the results across states signal a new political direction in the country, with the BJP’s expanding footprint reflecting a wider national endorsement of its governance model.

He further said that a BJP-led government in West Bengal would reshape regional political dynamics, strengthen the party’s presence in eastern India, and energize its cadre across the Northeast.
