Agartala, March 1: A man employed in Bengaluru has alleged negligence on the part of the police in tracing his missing wife and nine-year-old daughter, who have remained untraceable for more than a month.
Bipul Malakar, a resident of Samarurpar Gram Panchayat under Chandipur Block in Tripura, said his wife, Supriya Malakar, left their home on January 9 along with their youngest daughter, stating that she was travelling to her parents’ house in Assam. However, on January 14, his mother-in-law informed him over phone that Supriya had not reached their residence.
Bipul, who had travelled to Bengaluru for work in December, returned to Tripura upon learning about their disappearance. On January 22, he lodged a missing diary at the women’s police station in the state, seeking immediate intervention to trace them.
According to Bipul, there was a subsequent development when Supriya allegedly contacted him from two different phone numbers and informed him that she was safe and did not wish to be traced. He said he promptly shared the numbers with the police, hoping that technical tracking could help ascertain her whereabouts and ensure his daughter’s safety.
However, he alleged that no concrete progress has been made in the investigation so far. Bipul further claimed that he has not received a copy of the FIR despite repeated requests and accused certain police personnel of making inappropriate remarks during his interactions with them.
Expressing concern over his daughter’s wellbeing, he has appealed to senior authorities to intervene and ensure a thorough and impartial probe into the matter so that the whereabouts and safety of his family members can be confirmed at the earliest.
