Boxnagar, June 25: A sensational incident has come to light in the Rajbari area of Boxnagar, where a Bangladeshi woman was detained by local police for allegedly entering India without valid travel documents and engaging in immoral activities.
According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, Boxnagar Police conducted a late-night raid on Monday at the residence of Abu Hossain in the Rajbari locality and detained a young woman. Investigations revealed that she is a resident of Sylhet district in Bangladesh and had no valid passport or visa.
She reportedly entered India illegally at the invitation of her cousin, who is married to Abu Hossain and resides in Boxnagar Puranbari. The cousin had moved to India years ago through marriage and allegedly lured the woman to join her in unethical activities.
Sources claim that while her husband was abroad—and later after he returned in ill health—the woman continued to be involved in illicit affairs with several young men. Currently employed as a security guard at GB Hospital in Agartala, she frequently traveled between Agartala and Boxnagar, often renting hotels for overnight stays, according to the complaint.
Seeing financial potential in these activities, she allegedly invited her cousin from Bangladesh and involved her in the same. Police have launched a formal investigation and initiated the process to push back the detained Bangladeshi woman to her country.
In a new development, a man named Saiful from Kamalnagar has reportedly approached the police to seek her release, raising further suspicion.
The incident has caused widespread sensation in the area. Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in illegal entry and immoral activities involving foreign nationals. The investigation into the wider network is ongoing.
