Agartala: Nov 03: A Bangladeshi citizen, Salim Ahmed (40), was arrested by the Sonamura police station on Sunday for illegally entering India several months ago in search of work. The arrest occurred following a tip-off about a suspicious individual in the area, prompting police to lay an ambush in the Aralia locality.

Early on Sunday morning, police officers spotted Salim and, upon noticing the patrol, he attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. During interrogation, Salim disclosed that he hails from the Comilla district of Bangladesh and had been living in India without valid documentation. He had secured employment at a local cabinet shop in Aralia.

The police reported that Salim was unable to present any legitimate documents proving his right to remain in the country. A police officer from the Sonamura police station stated that the arrested individual would be produced in court on Monday, where a remand request will be made for further investigation.

This incident highlights ongoing issues related to illegal immigration in the region, as authorities continue to monitor and manage such cases to maintain law and order. The police are expected to take necessary actions in accordance with legal protocols while ensuring that all procedures are followed regarding Salim’s case.
