Hyderabad, Aug 8: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Friday made explosive allegations against former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), accusing him of orchestrating a large-scale phone-tapping operation targeting political leaders, family members, bureaucrats, and others during his tenure.

Speaking to media after appearing before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the phone-tapping case, Bandi Sanjay claimed that KCR tapped the phones of his own daughter K. Kavitha, son-in-law Anil Kumar, and nephew and former minister T. Harish Rao. He alleged the surveillance was carried out under the pretext of monitoring Maoist activities.

The BJP leader further claimed that several senior politicians, including then-Congress president A. Revanth Reddy and ministers from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), were also targets of surveillance. “Even phones of lawyers, businessmen, professors from Osmania University, and actors were tapped,” he said.

Sanjay alleged that thousands of crores were looted through these operations, with money seized from politicians during elections under the guise of enforcement. He accused KCR, his son K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), and former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao of manipulating records—claiming ₹20 crore was seized, while only ₹2 crore was shown on paper.

He submitted evidence in a sealed cover to the SIT but questioned its authority, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. “The SIT lacks power to summon top officials and is unable to investigate thoroughly,” he said.

Accusing current CM Revanth Reddy of shielding KCR through a secret understanding, Sanjay demanded immediate ED and CBI intervention, warning that justice is being delayed despite ample evidence.

Earlier, Sanjay visited a Hanuman temple and led a march to the Dilkusha guesthouse with hundreds of BJP workers showing support.
