On the eve of the much-anticipated elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), authorities have placed 88 polling booths in Khowai district under stringent security cover to ensure free and fair voting. Special attention has been directed towards sensitive border areas, particularly Khowai and Champahour, where security forces are maintaining round-the-clock vigilance.

Polling personnel began their dispersal early Saturday morning from the Kanchanpur Higher Secondary School grounds. Equipped with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and essential election materials, they set out for their respective polling stations across the 9-Halahali–Asharambari (ST) and 12-Ramchandraghat (ST) constituencies. The movement of polling teams took place under armed escort to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the electoral process.

To bolster security, joint patrols have been intensified across the subdivision. Under the leadership of Khowai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Krishnadhan Sarkar, coordinated operations involving district police and the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) have been carried out in key areas such as Lathabari, Khangrai, Radhacharan Nagar and Kokborok Bazaar. Additionally, a “Joint Vehicular Mobile” unit has been deployed along the India–Bangladesh border to prevent any potential infiltration or untoward incidents. Officials have stated that the law-and-order situation in the region remains peaceful and stable.

Security personnel assigned to all polling stations have undergone detailed briefings, with clear instructions to maintain both internal and perimeter security. Senior officials have emphasized the need to create a secure environment so that voters can exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation. By Saturday afternoon, armed forces had begun moving to their designated polling booths.

The elaborate security arrangements are being closely supervised by Superintendent of Police Bogati Jagadeeshwar Reddy. District police, central armed forces and TSR personnel are working in close coordination to manage the deployment effectively. The visible presence of security forces across the district has instilled confidence among voters, particularly in politically sensitive pockets, ahead of the crucial TTAADC elections.
