Minister Sudhangshu Das chaired the state-level second round review meeting of the Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD) on Wednesday at the department’s Conference Hall in Gurkhabasti, Agartala. Senior officials including Secretary Deepa D. Nair, Director Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, and other departmental representatives were present during the session.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Das said the review covered a wide range of key operational and financial issues. These included an assessment of the funds allocated for the 2025–2026 financial year, the progress made across various ongoing projects, and the overall status of departmental initiatives. Detailed discussions were also held on the amount of funds received so far and the additional requirements necessary to ensure timely completion of pending works.
Emphasizing the importance of regular monitoring, Minister Das noted that such review meetings are vital for maintaining accountability, improving efficiency, and ensuring that projects are executed without delays. He added that the department’s annual vaccination drives—conducted to curb livestock diseases—were also reviewed, with officials presenting updates on coverage and current challenges.
A significant part of the meeting focused on the ‘Unnata Godhan Prakalp’, one of the department’s flagship schemes aimed at boosting cattle productivity and improving rural livelihoods. Minister Das stated that the present status of the project was examined closely, and necessary directives were issued to strengthen its implementation and outreach.
Summarizing the proceedings, he said the overall performance of the department was thoroughly evaluated, and actionable instructions were given to officers to ensure timely completion of all schemes, seamless doorstep delivery of benefits, and enhanced transparency in service delivery. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving efficiency within the department for the welfare of farmers and livestock owners across the state.
