Agartala: Sept 12: On Thursday morning, an Anganwadi inspection and monitoring app was launched at a ceremony held at the Bak Rehabilitation Institution premises in Ujan Abhaynagar, the capital. Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinklu Roy inaugurated the event by watering a sapling, unveiling a plaque, and officially launching the app.

The ceremony was attended by department officer Tapan Kumar Das, Agartala Municipal Corporation corporator Hiralal Debnath, and other dignitaries. In his speech, Minister Tinklu Roy highlighted the numerous responsibilities of Anganwadi centers. He noted that Anganwadi workers, known as didis, not only provide nutritional food for children aged 3 to 6 years but also deliver nutritious food to children aged 0 to 3 years at their homes. Additionally, they supply ration materials to pregnant mothers.

Minister Roy acknowledged that many Anganwadi centers are not functioning optimally and emphasized ongoing efforts to improve facilities such as drinking water, toilets, electricity, kitchen gardens, and playgrounds in all Anganwadi centers across the state. With over four lakh children enrolled in these centers, the low number of supervisors makes it challenging to inspect each center thoroughly. To address this, the government has introduced the live app to monitor all Anganwadi centers daily from a central location. The official launch of this app took place on Thursday.
