Agartala: Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today visited the cultivable land of a farmer, Durga Munda, whose paddy field was completely destroyed, and assured him of all possible support from the Agriculture Department.
The Minister visited the paddy field of Durga Munda in Kalpara of Ishanpur Gram Panchayat, where the crop was destroyed due to the use of destructive herbicides by miscreants
Upon receiving the news, Agriculture Minister personally went to inspect the field and instructed departmental officials to provide all possible assistance to the affected farmer.
Later, the Minister said that farmers are like gods as they work hard to arrange food for the people of the state and the nation.
“I have seen in the media that in Ishanpur Gram Panchayat, some miscreants have poisoned the paddy field, causing around 80% damage to the crop. If any farmer’s cultivable land faces problems or damage due to any reason, our government and department will extend help. Even though he does not have insurance from our department, we will provide him with all kinds of assistance. After reviewing all aspects, we will extend every possible help to the affected farmer. A few days back, I came here and planted paddy, and the crop grew well. We must identify the culprits responsible for such acts—it is the responsibility of our society to find those who intentionally harm others,” he said.
The Minister informed that officials from the Agriculture Department have arrived to collect detailed information about the affected farmers and take all necessary measures to assist them.
“All farmers must go for insurance to ensure the safety of their cultivable land,” he added.
