Agartala: May 19: The Agartala Press Club issued a statement on Sunday condemning the use of foul language when inviting journalists. The constitution of the country does not grant any Minister Bahadur the right to verbally abuse the media in obscene language.

Ratan Lal Nath, a BJP leader and state minister, displayed arrogance and a lack of control through his abusive language. The so-called competent minister Babu should exercise restraint in his speech, as the media is accountable to the people. The media’s responsibility is not to individuals like him but to the public. Prior to 2018, during the Left Front period, Minister Ratan Babu was visible in state media offices, seeking coverage for his news. However, now that he holds a ministerial position, he seems to have forgotten to keep his mouth shut.

Recently, journalists and photojournalists faced a dishonorable situation while covering a political program at the invitation of the ruling BJP on Saturday. Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, a member of the Council of Ministers, attempted to humiliate journalists with derogatory remarks. The Agartala Press Club strongly condemns such behavior. Additionally, the club is concerned about the growing intolerance towards journalists displayed by certain political figures and bureaucrats. They urge everyone to refrain from such behavior.

Agartala Press Club Co-Editor Abhishek Dey released a statement on Saturday afternoon, emphasizing that any disrespect towards journalists will not be overlooked.
