Agartala, Tuesday: A shocking incident of burglary has rattled residents of the Bhati Abhoynagar area near Albert Club in Agartala, after miscreants allegedly broke into a residence and decamped with cash worth Rs 1,10,000. The theft reportedly took place while the homeowner was away, giving the accused an opportunity to execute the crime without immediate detection.

According to preliminary reports, the burglars gained entry by cutting through the iron rods of a window. Once inside the house, they thoroughly ransacked cupboards, drawers, and other furniture in search of valuables. The entire house was left in complete disarray. The family members, upon returning home, were left stunned to discover that their hard-earned savings had been stolen and their home vandalized.

Neighbours informed that the incident occurred in a relatively quiet stretch of the locality, raising concerns over security arrangements in the area. The family promptly lodged a complaint with the police.

Police personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and initiated an investigation. Sources said officers are examining CCTV footage from nearby establishments and residential buildings to identify the culprits and trace their movement before and after the incident. Forensic teams may also be deployed if required.

The burglary has triggered fear among residents of Bhati Abhoynagar, especially in light of recent theft cases reported from different parts of the city. Locals have urged the authorities to enhance night patrols and intensify surveillance to prevent further such incidents.

The police have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to apprehend those responsible and restore a sense of security in the locality.
