Agartala: July 4: After continuous complaints, Sadar Sub-Divisional Ruler and Food Department went on a raid on Tuesday to check the wholesale price of vegetables in Maharajganj market. They raided Maharajganj vegetable market and wholesale market.

The price of vegetables has increased by leaps and bounds in the last few days. Because of that, common people are returning home after going to the market. Rs 300 per kg of ginger, Jinge, Patal, Eggplant have reached the century from 80. Cucumber is selling at Rs 80 per kg. The price of raw chilli is Rs 400 per kg. The prices of tomatoes and other essential vegetables have gone up a lot compared to last month. In this situation, the general buyer has breathed a sigh of relief. However, buyers are reluctant to deal with the drop in the price of Lanka. The buyers are struggling to increase the price of grain in the market without restraint. In this situation, an enforcement team of Sadar Mahakuma ruler and food department jointly raided the vegetable market and wholesale market of Maharajganj market. They went to the vegetable market and came to know about the price of grain in different shops. Basically want to know the price of potato, onion, chili, tomato. The team also raided two grocery stores. The association comes to their attention.

They found expired weighing scales in a shop. Pickle and oil packets have expired, no food license. Therefore, the shops have been asked to be closed, said Subdivisional Food Controller Pradeep Kumar Bhowmik. He also said that the price of grain in the market has decreased slightly. All materials are available in sufficient quantity in the market. There is no shortage. Tomatoes are being sold at wholesale price of Rs 80 and retail at Rs 100. Green chili is being sold at the rate of Rs 120 to Rs 150. Hundred gram retails at Rs 25 to Rs 30. Sellers told the raiding party that prices had gone up due to low supply. A member of the petitioner said that the market committee has assured to take action in this case. However, Subdivisional Food Controller Pradeep Kumar Bhowmik could not specify why the price of food grains including kachalanka has gone up in the market and when it may come down. In today’s raid, a sweet shop in the market was seized for using domestic gas cylinders instead of commercial gas cylinders. At the same time, Subdivisional Food Controller Pradeep Kumar Bhowmik assured to take legal action. Although the members of the raiding party claimed to have the market under control, the price of vegetables is on the rise but it is clear when they step into the market. Buyers claim that continuous monitoring is needed in this case.
