Agartala April 24: An out-of-state drug smuggler was caught by the police with heroin. Based on tip-off, the police of Kadamtala police station and jawans of 29th battalion of Assam Rifles have been sitting at Jherjheri area of Tripura-Assam border in Kadamtala police station area since Monday morning.
However, no success emerged from there. Finally, the police and Assam Rifles arrested a young man named Nazrul Islam from Ward No. 5 area of Kalagangerpar Panchayat in the afternoon. Later, 102 grams of heroin stored in eight soap boxes were recovered from him.
The arrested person’s name is Nazrul Islam. His house is in Kathaltali area under Bazarichara police station of Karimganj district of Assam. Dharmanagar Divisional Police Officer Debashish Saha said that a case has been registered in the incident. Police are investigating the incident. The youth arrested on Tuesday will be handed over to the Dharmanagar district court seeking police remand.
