Agartala, December 18: Tripura Police continues its war to create a drug-free Tripura but drug trafficking cannot be completely stopped. Traffickers are using new methods to smuggle drugs. In the meantime, two persons were arrested by the Churaibari police while hiding inside the sofa while smuggling cannabis outside the state.
Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty said that today a lorry from Agartala was going to outside the state with household items. At that time, the police stationed at Churaibari Naka Point arrested the suspected lorry. After searching the vehicle, they were able to seize 150 kg of dry cannabis from inside the sofa. The driver and co-driver of the car have been arrested. They left Agartala for Delhi with cannabis.
He also said that the arrested are Mojibar Ali, Jahangir Hossain, residents of Assam. Police interrogated the arrested with the police station. The police have filed a case against them under the NDPS section and started investigation. He said that the market value of seized cannabis is approximately 25 lakhs.
