Agartala, July 20: Financial assistance has been provided by the Department for the treatment of 65 patients belonging to the poor OBC community under the Socio-Economic Development Scheme in the financial year 2022-23. Other Backward Classes (OBC) Welfare Minister Santvana Chakma said this at a press conference at the Secretariat today. He claims that 2 lakh 96 thousand 116 rupees have been spent for this.
On this day, he said, OBC welfare department has various projects. One of these is to provide pre-matric scholarships to OBC students studying in class I to class X.
He also added that 25,696 applications have been submitted to the National Scholarship Portal in the financial year 2022-23. Scholarships worth 59 lakh 25 thousand rupees have already been sanctioned for 3 thousand 950 students. Besides, 20 thousand 73 applications have been submitted on the National Scholarship Portal for Post Matric Scholarship of OBC students who are going to college and university level from class 11. Out of this, 21 crore 17 lakh rupees have been given to 7 thousand 540 students as scholarships.
On this day, he said that all the students who belong to the OBC community in the secondary and twelfth class exams conducted by the Tripura Madhya Shiksha Parshad, Dr. BR Ambedkar Memorial Gold Model Awarded.
According to the minister, they were awarded gold medals and certificates along with Tk 25,000 in cash in recognition of their success. 1500 rupees each for all the OBC students who got more than 60 percent marks in the secondary and higher secondary examinations. BR Ambedkar Merit Award is given and one time financial assistance is being given by Government of Tripura from 2020-21 to meritorious students from financially weaker OBC community.
On this day, he also informed that financial assistance has been provided by the department for the treatment of patients belonging to the OBC community, which is significant under the socio-economic development project. In 2022-23, 65 patients have been financially assisted by the OBC Welfare Department. 2 lakh 96 thousand 116 rupees have been spent for this.
