Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation, describing it as a noble act that saves lives while reflecting society’s sense of responsibility and humanity.

Addressing a blood donation camp organized by Mukti Sangha in the Ramnagar area, Dr. Saha appreciated the club’s initiative and greeted the donors for coming forward for the humanitarian cause.

“Blood donation is a great expression of human kindness and humanity,” the Chief Minister said, stressing that there is no substitute for blood. He urged youth and clubs to actively organize blood donation programmes and contribute towards building a drug-free society by engaging young people in sports, cultural and creative activities.

Highlighting the transformation in club culture, Dr. Saha said disputes and chaotic scenes involving clubs were once common, but the situation has changed significantly. Clubs are now increasingly participating in socially responsible activities and contributing to public welfare.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on service to humanity, the Chief Minister urged people from all sections of society to participate in humanitarian initiatives.

Dr. Saha also highlighted Tripura’s progress in health, education, connectivity and infrastructure, stating that the state has emerged as a “frontrunner” in various NITI Aayog evaluations. He noted that Tripura has received several national awards in the Panchayat sector, while its per capita income has moved closer to the national average.

On healthcare, he said the Ayushman Bharat scheme has enabled patients to undergo surgeries and receive treatment for various complex diseases within the state.

The Chief Minister also highlighted improvements in Agartala’s drainage system, saying modern technology, including drones and cameras, is being used to identify problems and reduce waterlogging.

Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder said public participation in blood donation camps is steadily increasing and clubs are demonstrating greater social accountability.

During the programme, a hearse van was donated to Mukti Sangha from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. AMC’s “Sabuj Saathis”, social workers and achievers in education and sports were also felicitated. Social workers Shyamal Kumar Deb and Shekhar Datta were among those present.
