Agartala, June 17: Animal Resource Development Department Minister Sudhangshu Das on Tuesday chaired a review meeting with members and chairpersons of various sub-committees constituted to oversee welfare measures for Scheduled Caste (SC) communities in Tripura. The meeting focused on assessing the implementation of decisions taken during the previous review and identifying ways to further strengthen welfare programmes for the community.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said the meeting was convened to evaluate the progress of resolutions adopted during the last review session held approximately six months ago. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that welfare initiatives reach beneficiaries effectively and contribute to the socio-economic development of Scheduled Caste communities across the state.

Das recalled that one of the major concerns raised by committee members and chairpersons during the previous meeting was the issue of inadequate honorariums paid to those involved in implementing welfare programmes. Taking note of the demand, the government has revised the honorarium structure.

“We held a similar review meeting six months ago. A common concern highlighted by most of the members and chairpersons was related to their low honorariums. The department has now revised the honorarium, and I believe this step will bring a positive change and encourage greater participation in welfare activities,” the Minister said.

The meeting also served as a platform for consultation with committee representatives regarding the future direction of welfare schemes. Das stated that the opinions and suggestions of chairpersons would be sought to formulate a more comprehensive and effective strategy for implementing development programmes targeted at Scheduled Caste communities.

According to the Minister, the government is keen on improving both the efficiency and effectiveness of welfare project execution. Feedback from grassroots-level committee members will play a crucial role in identifying challenges, addressing gaps, and ensuring that government benefits reach intended beneficiaries in a timely manner.

Participants discussed various issues related to welfare programme implementation and shared suggestions for enhancing outreach and service delivery. The Minister assured the members that their recommendations would be taken into consideration while preparing future action plans.

The review meeting reflects the state government’s continued efforts to strengthen welfare mechanisms, improve coordination among stakeholders, and ensure inclusive development for Scheduled Caste communities through better planning, monitoring, and implementation of welfare initiatives.
