Agartala, June 4: The Tripura capital is all set to welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is scheduled to arrive in Agartala on Thursday for a two-day visit to the state. Extensive security arrangements and logistical preparations have been put in place by the administration ahead of the high-profile visit.

As part of the preparations, authorities conducted a trial run of the Union Home Minister’s motorcade route from Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport to Pushpabanta Palace, the former Raj Bhavan, where Shah is expected to participate in the foundation stone laying ceremony and Bhumi Pujan for a proposed heritage hotel project.

Amit Shah will arrive in Agartala from Shillong after attending the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC). Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is also expected to accompany the Union Home Minister from Shillong following the conclusion of the NEC meeting.

According to official sources, Shah’s itinerary includes several important engagements on Friday, with a special focus on border security and infrastructure development. He is scheduled to visit a Border Security Force (BSF) facility at Lankamura along the Indo-Bangladesh international border in West Tripura district.

During the visit, the Union Home Minister is also expected to hold a high-level review meeting with senior BSF officials to assess border management, security preparedness, and ongoing infrastructure development projects along the international boundary.

Meanwhile, to ensure smooth movement of the VVIP convoy and maintain public safety, the Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory imposing temporary restrictions on vehicular movement along several key routes for two days.

Traffic movement will remain restricted on roads connecting MBB Airport, Frontier BSF Headquarters at Salbagan, Lichu Bagan, Buddha Mandir, Bharat Ratna Club crossing, and Lankamura Border Outpost during the Union Home Minister’s travel schedule. Emergency vehicles, however, will be exempted from the restrictions.

The Traffic Police have advised commuters to use designated alternative routes through Narayanpur, Narsingarh, Gandhigram, Dhaleswar, Jogendranagar, Battala, Ker Chowmuhani, Barjala, and other connecting roads to avoid inconvenience.

Authorities have appealed to residents to cooperate with security personnel and traffic officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the Union Home Minister’s visit.
