Tripura is set to add a significant new landmark to its tourism map as Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will lay the foundation stone of a modern eco-tourism, adventure tourism and water park project at Sachindranagar Colony in Jirania on January 5, 2026. The project marks a major step in strengthening the state’s tourism infrastructure and creating new opportunities for local development.
The ambitious initiative is being developed under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme and is modeled on Kolkata’s popular Nicco Park. Designed as a comprehensive recreational destination, the project will combine eco-friendly tourism, adventure activities and water-based entertainment. Once completed, it is expected to attract visitors from across Tripura and beyond, adding a new dimension to the state’s tourism offerings.
Ahead of the foundation stone laying ceremony, State Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inspected the project site on Friday. He was accompanied by the Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate, senior officials and local residents. The inspection covered the entire project area as well as the venue for the upcoming ceremony, ensuring that all arrangements are in place for the Chief Minister’s visit and the launch of construction.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Chowdhury said the project would not only enrich Tripura’s tourism portfolio but also create employment opportunities and improve local infrastructure. He emphasized that such initiatives are essential for inclusive growth and for bringing long-term benefits to local communities.
For the people of Jirania, the project holds special significance. Residents have described it as a historic development and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. Many believe it will transform the area by improving connectivity, boosting economic activity and placing Jirania firmly on Tripura’s tourism map.
As the foundation stone laying ceremony draws closer, excitement is building across the region. The project is being seen as another milestone in Tripura’s journey toward becoming a vibrant and sustainable tourism destination.
