Unakoti, Nov 18 — Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy on Tuesday inaugurated the district-level Unity March at the Unakoti Kalakshetra grounds, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event saw enthusiastic participation from thousands of students, youth groups, and local organisations, who marched to promote the message of national unity.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Roy said Sardar Patel’s ideals continue to serve as a guiding force for building a united and self-reliant India. “His vision, firm leadership, and unwavering patriotism remind us that the true strength and progress of the nation lie in the bonds of unity,” he stated. He added that the Unity March aims to spread Patel’s message of national integration and inspire the younger generation to follow his principles.
The rally, titled “Sardar @150 Ekta Yatra”, began at 7 a.m. from Kailashahar and proceeded up to Chinibagan. Participants carried placards and banners highlighting themes such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swachh Bharat, and a drug-free society—key goals that Minister Roy said aligned with Patel’s vision for a strong nation.
Several dignitaries including Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Unakoti District Magistrate Tamal Majumder, Zilla Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das, and Municipal Chairperson Chapala Deb Roy were present to motivate participants and lend support to the initiative.
Minister Roy informed that similar Unity Marches are being organised across all districts of Tripura and will continue till November 24, 2025. As part of a nationwide programme, two representatives from each district will embark on a 100-kilometre walk to Sardar Patel’s birthplace, symbolising the nation’s collective commitment to unity, harmony, and patriotism.
The event reflected Tripura’s active participation in the nationwide celebrations honouring Sardar Patel’s unparalleled contribution to national integration.
