Dharmanagar, June 25: In a key development aimed at boosting veterinary infrastructure in Tripura, Minister of Animal Resource Development and Fisheries Sudhangshu Das on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed District Veterinary Hospital and Medicine Storage building in Chandrapur, North Tripura.
The facility, developed by the Animal Resources Development Department, is part of the state government’s broader initiative to strengthen animal healthcare services in rural and semi-urban areas. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, senior department officials, and local dignitaries.
Highlighting the importance of the new facility, Minister Sudhangshu Das said, “This hospital will act as a cornerstone for providing quality veterinary care in North Tripura. It will ensure better access to treatment, vaccinations, and emergency services for livestock owners in the region.”
He further noted that the hospital is equipped with a dedicated drug storage unit, which will help ensure a steady supply of essential veterinary medicines and improve the efficiency of service delivery.
The initiative reflects the government’s strategic commitment to supporting rural livelihoods through improved animal husbandry and veterinary services. Officials emphasized that better livestock care directly contributes to food security and economic stability in rural communities.
Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, speaking at the event, lauded the government’s continued focus on agricultural and livestock development. “This facility is a testament to the present administration’s commitment to farmers and livestock owners. We can expect similar initiatives to come up in other parts of Tripura soon,” he said.
The hospital is expected to serve as a model for future veterinary infrastructure projects across the state, aligning with Tripura’s mission to empower its rural and tribal populations through accessible animal healthcare.
