Mumbai, Oct 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate India Maritime Week 2025 on October 27 at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai. Organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) in collaboration with the Indian Ports Association (IPA), the five-day event — from October 27 to 31 — aims to position India as a global maritime leader.

The inaugural ceremony will also be attended by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State Shantanu Thakur, and the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, and Odisha — highlighting the significance of maritime infrastructure in driving national economic growth.

India Maritime Week 2025 will feature exhibitions, panel discussions, and interactive sessions showcasing opportunities in ports, logistics, green shipping, cruise tourism, and digital transformation. The event aligns with the government’s Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which aim to strengthen India’s blue economy and enhance its global trade footprint.

With over 95% of India’s trade by volume moving through its ports, the event seeks to attract domestic and global investments, forge partnerships, and accelerate key projects under initiatives like Sagarmala. Organisers expect participation from over 100 countries, 500 exhibitors, and 1,00,000 delegates, making it one of Asia’s largest maritime gatherings.

Key focus areas will include green hydrogen hubs, offshore wind energy, deep-sea mineral exploration, and innovations in maritime sustainability.

A senior MoPSW official stated that India Maritime Week 2025 is “not just an exhibition but a catalyst for transforming India into a global maritime hub through innovation and collaboration.” With port capacity now exceeding 1,600 MTPA and ship turnaround time reduced to under a day, India is setting sail towards a 10,000 MTPA capacity by 2047.
