Agartala: Two pairs of DEMU trains operating between Agartala and Sabroom have been cancelled until October 28, according to an official communication issued on Saturday.
The affected services include Train No. 75688/75687 (Agartala–Sabroom–Agartala) and Train No. 07640/07639 (Agartala–Sabroom–Agartala). The order, which took effect immediately, will remain in force until further notice.
While the authorities have not yet clarified the reason behind the suspension, the decision has caused disappointment among regular commuters, particularly ahead of the Diwali and Kali Puja festivities, when passenger movement typically increases.
Frequent travelers on the route expressed concern over the sudden cancellation, citing the trains as an essential daily transport link between South Tripura and the state capital. Many urged the railway authorities to restore services at the earliest or provide alternative arrangements to reduce inconvenience.
The Agartala–Sabroom DEMU trains play a crucial role in connecting several towns and villages along the southern corridor of Tripura, serving both office-goers and traders. The suspension, therefore, is expected to temporarily impact local travel and small business activities in the region.
