Agartala, May 18: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday underscored the pivotal role of civil service officers in governance, stating they form the backbone of policy implementation and public service delivery. He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Civil Service Officers’ Institute and a blood donation camp organized in Agartala.

“Civil servants play a crucial role in translating government decisions into action. Their dedication and accountability are key to good governance. We approach the people with the results of their work,” Dr. Saha said.

Encouraging officers to work with sincerity and purpose, he emphasized, “When we serve the people with honesty, their blessings guide us in the right direction. Civil service is a powerful platform to bring meaningful change.”

The Chief Minister noted a positive trend of talented youth showing increasing interest in the civil services, attributing it to greater transparency in the state’s recruitment process. He highlighted the presence of 59 IAS, 42 IPS, and 40 IFS officers in Tripura, along with 470 TCS, 152 TPS, and 150 TFS officers.

Dr. Saha also stressed the importance of innovation in administrative functioning and reiterated his government’s commitment to ensuring basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, and road connectivity across the state.

He raised concerns about officers on Central deputation who are reluctant to return to the state, informing that a letter has been sent to the Prime Minister in this regard. He expressed hope that the proposed institute would play a role in resolving such issues.

The Civil Service Officers’ Institute, to be developed at a cost of ₹31.15 lakh, is expected to be completed within two years. Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, DGP Anurag Dhankar, and senior officials including Kiran Gitte attended the event.
