Agartala: Mar 07: A CBI court has sentenced three individuals to four years of jail custody for embezzling large sums of money using forged certificates.
Speaking to reporters, a CBI lawyer revealed that an NGO named the Women Development Society misappropriated significant funds from the Tripura Bamboo Mission and various Government of India schemes by using falsified certificates. A marketing officer associated with the Tripura Bamboo Mission was also implicated. When suspicions arose, the department conducted an investigation into the NGO’s documents and discovered they were entirely fraudulent. Consequently, a case was filed against the NGO, which was later handed over to the CBI for further action.
The lawyer further stated that, after recording the testimony of a total of 48 witnesses, the CBI court issued its verdict today. Three individuals, including a departmental officer, have been sentenced to four years of jail custody. Additionally, a financial penalty has been imposed.
