Agartala: Mar 04: Surrendered militants have claimed that the government has not yet fulfilled all the promises made to them for returning to normal life. Additionally, they have presented several new demands. In the past, the militants have blocked the national highway five times to advocate for their demands. On February 25, they blocked the road in Baramura with 21 demands.
In response, the administration assured the militants that Minister Bikash Debbarma of the Janajati Welfare Department would hold a meeting with them on March 4. As promised, Minister Debbarma met with the TUIRPC, an organization representing the surrendered militants, at Mahakaran on Tuesday. During the meeting, the minister was informed about various demands, including the provision of accommodation, the government’s financial support for their children’s education up to higher education, and the immediate withdrawal of all cases against them. Minister Debbarma assured that efforts would be made to address their issues. Officials from various state government departments attended the meeting, where the minister discussed the militants’ concerns with them.
