Agartala: Jan 30: In 2022, candidates who appeared for the STGT (Special Teacher Grade Teacher) exam staged a protest on Thursday in front of the residence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, located in the Krishna Nagar area of Agartala. The protesters gathered at Agartala Town Hall in the morning and then marched toward the Chief Minister’s residence, where they began their demonstration. Taking advantage of what they perceived as insufficient police security, they surrounded the residence. These candidates had taken the ST GT exam conducted by the state government in 2022 but claimed that despite waiting for three years, they had not been recruited.

The job-seeking unemployed youth expressed frustration over the delay in their recruitment process. They alleged that despite multiple requests, including written letters, to meet the Chief Minister, they were not given an opportunity. They further criticized the Chief Minister for meeting with YouTubers and extending honors to them, while showing no interest in addressing their concerns. The protesters emphasized that their sole purpose for gathering in front of the Chief Minister’s residence was to demand an answer regarding their job appointments.

Soon after, the police from the East Agartala Police Station arrived at the scene and took the protesters into custody. However, the incident raised several questions, particularly about the security arrangements at the Chief Minister’s residence. The protesters managed to carry out their demonstration in a high-security zone, and the question arose as to how they were able to approach and surround the Chief Minister’s residence without being detected by security personnel or even the local authorities. This incident has sparked concerns about the effectiveness of security protocols in sensitive areas.
