Agartala:June 28:  A major accident took place at Kumar Ghat center of Uloto Rath ceremony, at 4.30 pm, a total of six people including two children were killed and around 25 people were injured today.

The incident started when the devotees took the chariot of ISKCON from the local TRTC stand and reached the place adjacent to the local new town hall. Just as the chariot was connected to the 133KB line of electricity, the chariot caught fire and an accident took place, resulting in death on the spot, Seema Pal (33), Sushmita Baidya (30), Rupak Das (40), Soma Biswas (28), Rohan Das (9), and Shan Malakar (9). Due to this incident, an atmosphere of panic prevailed in the Kumarghat city area, hundreds of people gathered at the Kumarghat local hospital to see and search for the injured and dead.

The injured have been referred to Kumarghat Hospital, Fatikrai Hospital and Kailasad District Hospital, four of them have been referred to GB Hospital as their condition is critical. The dead were shifted to Fatikrai Mortuary by fire brigade personnel of Kumarghat. As the news of this incident spread, an atmosphere of panic prevailed in the entire Unkoti district including Fatikrai, Kumarghat. The chief minister of the state is coming to the spot after receiving the news of the incident
