Agartala, October 31: Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi sacrificed herself 39 years ago to protect the unity and integrity of India. Her self-sacrifice continues to inspire patriotism in all ethnic groups of the country. Pradesh Congress President and former MLA Ashish Kumar Saha said this at the death anniversary function of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi today at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan.

The 39th death anniversary of Indira Gandhi, the country’s first woman Prime Minister, is being celebrated today at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan with due dignity along with the entire country. Mention, on October 31, 1984, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was shot dead by a private security guard. As part of this, the President along with the Pradesh Congress leaders first hoisted the national flag at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan. Later, the party leaders placed wreaths on the portrait of Indira Gandhi. Then the party leaders paid tribute by laying wreaths at Indira Gandhi’s tomb.

On this day, Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha said, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi sacrificed herself 39 years ago today to protect the unity and integrity of India. The National Congress has ordered that every state of the country observe this day as self-sacrifice day. Besides, various programs have been ordered to be undertaken.

On this day, MLA Gopal Chandra Roy said that along with the whole country, the state is also celebrating today as the 39th death anniversary of Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi was a symbol of development.

On this day, Pradesh Mahila Congress president Sarbani Ghosh said that a blood donation camp was organized at the blood bank of Agartala GB Hospital on the 39th death anniversary of Indira Gandhi.
