Agartala: Feb 26: On Wednesday, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath visited the office of the Tripura Agricultural Growth Authority (TAGA) in the capital’s Ker Chowmuhani area. During his visit, he interacted with the leaders of employee organizations. After the visit, he addressed the media, providing updates on the agricultural landscape of the state.
Minister Nath mentioned that Tripura consists of 58 blocks in total, out of which 30 blocks have achieved self-sufficiency in agriculture. However, the remaining 28 blocks are lagging behind. Specifically, the districts of West Tripura, North Tripura, and Unakoti are noted as being less advanced in agricultural development.
On the positive side, Dhalai district is currently in competition with the more developed areas, while South Tripura, Gomati, Sepahijala, and Khowai districts have already achieved self-sufficiency in agriculture. The minister emphasized the critical role of farmers, calling them the “providers of food,” and highlighted the importance of government employees in supporting agricultural growth. He pointed out that it is the employees who motivate farmers to adopt scientific farming techniques and who implement government schemes designed to benefit farmers.
The minister further stressed that the key to the state’s development lies in the active participation of government employees, as they play a pivotal role in executing the state’s agricultural policies and projects. He also highlighted that the government is focusing on promoting scientific farming methods to enhance agricultural productivity and help farmers become more self-reliant. The government, he assured, is committed to the advancement of farmers and will continue to work towards their development through various initiatives.
