Agartala, July 9: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday projected Tripura as an emerging investment destination, asserting that the state’s investor-friendly ecosystem, progressive industrial policies, strategic location, and improving infrastructure offer immense opportunities for domestic and global investors. He said the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 is expected to attract investment proposals worth over ₹1 lakh crore through the signing of more than 250 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day conclave at the International Fair Ground, Hapania, Dr. Saha said over 1,200 delegates, including industry leaders, entrepreneurs, diplomats, and investors from India and abroad, are participating in the event.

“I am happy to note that during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, more than 1,200 delegates are participating, and over 250 MoUs are being inked with an investment intent of more than ₹1 lakh crore. With the proactive support of Team Tripura, we are highly confident that most of these MoUs will be translated into projects on the ground in the near future,” the Chief Minister said.

The inaugural programme was attended virtually by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, while ambassadors and high commissioners from nine countries, members of the state cabinet, senior bureaucrats, and industrialists were present at the venue.

Highlighting Tripura’s strategic importance, Dr. Saha said the state’s 856-km international border with Bangladesh positions it as a gateway to Southeast Asia. He cited major connectivity projects such as the Agartala–Akhaura International Rail Link, Maitri Setu linking Sabroom with Bangladesh’s Chattogram Port, the proposed international expansion of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, and the Sonamura–Daudkandi Inland Water Transport route as key drivers of future economic growth.

He also outlined investment opportunities in logistics parks, warehousing, cold-chain infrastructure, multimodal cargo hubs, electric mobility, aviation services, pilot training, aircraft maintenance, heliports, air ambulance services, seaplane operations at Dumbur Lake, information technology, agriculture, food processing, tourism, and renewable energy.

On the sidelines of the conclave, the Chief Minister and several cabinet ministers held one-to-one meetings with industrialists and international delegates. Dr. Saha said investors showed keen interest in sectors such as information technology and agriculture, while discussions with the Bangladesh High Commission focused on expanding bilateral trade and export opportunities. He also highlighted the state’s investor-friendly incentive packages and industrial policies, expressing confidence that the conclave would pave the way for long-term investments, employment generation, and sustainable economic development in Tripura.
