Agartala: Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath has announced that the government will soon set up a 132 kV power sub-station and replace all defective electric wires and poles in Kalyanpur, Khowai District.
The Minister said this after visiting Manipuri Para in Ghilatali village, Kalyanpur, following the tragic death of Ajay Debnath (22), who was electrocuted after accidentally coming into contact with a live wire.
After visiting the accident site, the Minister informed that a three-member inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the incident, with directions to submit its report within 15 days.
“I went to Manipuri Para of Ghilatali village in Kalyanpur. Ajay Debnath, a young boy, died after accidentally touching a live wire. I visited the accident site along with local MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, local representatives, and officials of the TSECL. I also met the bereaved family and assured them that I will stand by them in every possible way. The state government was, is, and will always be by their side,” the Minister said.
He said that as soon as the incident occurred, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury had informed him, prompting an immediate visit to the site.
“I felt there must have been some external fault, so we came here to meet the family and have formed a three-member inquiry committee, which will submit its report within 15 days. We don’t want such incidents to occur again. The loss of such a young and bright life is extremely painful. As responsible representatives, it is our duty to support the grieving family and help them in every possible way, including assisting his younger brother,” Nath stated.
