Agartala, May 28: Several residents of Kalagangerpar in North Tripura’s Churaibari area have filed complaints against a local youth, Dilowar Hossain, accusing him of financial fraud under the guise of online trading. Hossain, a resident of North Fulbari Ward No. 3 under Churaibari police station, allegedly lured villagers with promises of high returns on investments.

According to the complaints, Hossain collected substantial sums of money from multiple people, claiming he would invest the funds in online trading and construction work. He even showcased a dozer machine to create a false sense of legitimacy around his activities.

One of the complainants, 70-year-old Asiya Begum of Ward No. 1 in the Bhetorgul area, claimed she gave Hossain Rs. 1 lakh a year ago. The elderly woman had borrowed the amount from a microfinance group. When she recently approached Hossain for repayment, he allegedly assaulted her, called her a “thief,” and summoned the police. She has since filed a written complaint at Kadamtala police station.

Ali Hossain, another resident of Ward No. 6 in the same gram panchayat, stated that he had given Rs. 1.7 lakh to Dilowar in two installments over 18 months ago but was ignored when he sought repayment.

Three other victims — Nazrul Haque, Asuk Uddin, and Hakim Uddin — alleged that they collectively handed over Rs. 2.4 lakh in cash to Hossain, who had promised a high return within a year. Since then, their attempts to recover the money have failed, and Dilowar has allegedly become untraceable.

With multiple victims now coming forward, individual complaints have been lodged at Kadamtala police station. Some victims are also planning to move the Dharmanagar court, seeking legal action for alleged financial fraud and deception.
