Agartala, March 20: Facing significant financial challenges, a woman, Arpita Acharya, has protested outside the Chief Minister’s residence, seeking justice and assistance. Acharya, who reportedly suffered burn injuries a year ago, claims her husband set her on fire.
According to sources, Acharya had eloped and married a young man from Kalyanpur. The couple later had a daughter. Following the alleged incident, she has been residing with her child at her parental home in Agartala, unable to afford medical treatment due to financial constraints.
In a bid to draw attention to her plight, Acharya, accompanied by her child and parents, staged a demonstration near the Chief Minister’s residence, demanding strict action against her husband. Authorities from the Eastern police station intervened and facilitated her transfer to a hospital for medical care.
In response, the Chief Minister assured assistance for her treatment and directed the arrest of her husband to address her grievances.
