In a major push toward building a digitally empowered economy, the West Tripura District Team has launched modern digital payment facilities at the Saras Fair 2025. The initiative aims to encourage Self-Help Group (SHG) Didis and customers to adopt smooth, secure, and transparent digital transactions, reducing dependence on cash.
Under the programme, all stalls from West District participating in the fair have been equipped with Digital QR Codes and Standee Flex (TGB), along with QR Code Sound Box systems (TSCB). These tools are expected to make transactions quicker and more efficient while ensuring accountability in financial dealings. The integration of these systems represents a significant step in promoting digital literacy and financial inclusion at the grassroots.
For SHG members, the introduction of easy-to-use digital tools is expected to enhance their business operations, improve customer interaction, and expand sales opportunities. Customers, on the other hand, will benefit from a hassle-free payment experience, aligning with the national mission to promote cashless transactions and strengthen the digital economy.
Officials highlighted that the Saras Fair—an important platform showcasing products and enterprises of Self-Help Groups from across the district—offers the perfect opportunity to implement such technological advancements. By embedding digital solutions into small-scale and community-driven trade, the initiative supports women entrepreneurs while simultaneously boosting the local economy.
The district administration emphasized that the introduction of digital payment facilities reflects its dedication to furthering the goals of the Digital India campaign. By bringing accessible digital tools to rural and semi-urban communities, the administration aims to ensure inclusivity in the country’s transition toward a modern, technology-driven financial ecosystem.
