Agartala, February 2:

Reacting to the Budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Deb described it as a “powerful and inspirational step” taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the financial roadmap has been designed to directly impact the lives of farmers, youth, entrepreneurs and workers, while promoting inclusive growth and long-term development.

According to Deb, the Budget strikes a careful balance between immediate relief and future-oriented reforms. He noted that provisions ranging from relief for the middle class to incentives for innovation and manufacturing would stimulate economic activity and job creation. At the same time, he said, the continued focus on agriculture, rural development and tourism would strengthen grassroots livelihoods and ensure balanced regional growth.

Highlighting a distinctive aspect of the Budget, the former Chief Minister said the emphasis on India’s cultural and knowledge heritage adds depth to the development agenda. “In its true sense, this Budget carries forward the mantra of ‘Development and Heritage’ by combining modern economic progress with India’s civilizational values,” he remarked.

Deb placed special emphasis on the Northeast, saying the region has received priority attention through enhanced measures for connectivity, infrastructure expansion, skill development and border area empowerment. He asserted that these initiatives would integrate the Northeast more firmly into the national mainstream and accelerate the government’s Act East, Act Fast policy.

The MP also welcomed the strong support extended to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups, stating that these sectors form the backbone of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Expressing confidence in the Budget’s impact, Deb said it would play a crucial role in building a prosperous India based on social justice, inclusive development and good governance.

He concluded by expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister, describing the Budget as people-centric, welfare-oriented and future-ready.
